I'm starting to sound more like Mr. RIPLEY each day. "BELIEVE IT OR NOT!"
Today's Believe it or Not: I inspired William Shatner to begin the SHATNER's WORLD TOUR.
Our story begins on Twitter.
William Shatner's CBS show, "Stuff My Father Says" has been cancelled (Not that that was going to have any legs anyway.) and I feel a bit angry for him.
So I start Tweeting to My Captain...er...William Shatner about how he needs to just relax and tour the world! How he's earned it and deserves it! How it's a darn shame that everyone but he has a great travel show where they just go around the world, seeing the sights, enjoying fine drinking & dining.
Because who does not know the ICON, William Shatner, or who does not want to party with William Shatner? RIGHT!? Everyone knows William Shatner! Even people living in YURTS in YAKGHANISTAN know who William Shatner is!
So I go on an on about how I'd rather watch him than Anthony Bourdain (Who was not dead at the time. GOD rest his wonderful, wonderful soul!!!) or watch anyone else do a travel show.
A very short time passes...like less than a month and suddenly The SHATNER'S WORLD, Tour is announced!
Basically everything I said he should do...he was gonna' do! Travel around, enjoy fine drinks and dining and regale audiences with his tales of what it's like to be the ICON, William Shatner!
Well I start cheering him on of course! BIG LOVE!
As I was doing daily Star Trek Radio shows I immediately contacted his 'people' and sent over copies of my, 'Shatner should be touring Tweets' to introduce myself, to congratulate them on getting him to do it, and to request some promo art for the station. They thanked me and sent over the ad at the top of this page and two radio ad clips. A 30 second and a 60 second ad that I can't seem to figure out how to place inside this blog for you to listen to just yet.
The only thing that would have made it more perfect is if I had actually gotten to go to one of the Shatner's World shows.
Things in my life went haywire at that time and I never was able to see him here in Colorado or any State nearby.
And that's pretty much all there is to this story dear reader.
